FACILITIES The Universal College of Medical Sciences, Nepal, is the largest single-campus Medical College in the country. Its superior physical facilities, methods of operation and collaborative agreements with the International Medical Institutions, makes it a Campus that few others can match.
The Universal Campus The Universal Campus is situated in a vast 120 acres green field land. The facilities that the Management has provided includes ultra modern and fully equipped Laboratories, dedicated Classrooms, modern fully-supervised Library, renowned Faculty from India, Nepal and USA, recreational facilities including Health Club, TV and Sports Club, Computer Suites with access to E –mail, Internet and other software, separate Hostel facilities for boys and girls with 24 hours Security and superb Canteen serving homely food.
Academic Facilities The Medical College conducting the MBBS and BDS courses has Lecture rooms, Laboratories and Departments as well as cadaver space. The Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Community Medicine have been housed to provide the first two years’ basic preclinical training for the students.
This Hospital is 25 years old, situated at Bhairahawa which has 175 in patients and around 600 out patients everyday. It is one of the best Eye Hospital situated in this region. Our final year students are posted there for training in Ophthalmology. Students benefit immensely by seeing various cases in Rana Ambika Eye Hospital.
Collaboration with the American University For the purpose of upgrading the quality of education to international standards, it is proposed to
have a collaborative arrangement with a prominent University in the United States of America which would include student exchange and faculty exchange programs. Negotiations are under process for finalizing the collaborative program.
Board of Advisors A team of senior medical experts from different parts of the world have already honoured the Advisory Board of the College, who will advise the management in maintaining the standards of Medical Education in improving Hospital Facilities from time to time. The College will be inviting its advisors to visit the UCMS Campus every year so as to incorporate their suggestions for improving facilities and rectifying the shortfalls.
Medical conferences & seminars UCMS is sponsoring its faculty for CME, and international medical conferences which definitely would benefit the students. The College will be organizing International Medical Conferences and Seminars in Nepal for the benefit of its students, where senior medical experts from different parts of the world would participate.
Separate Hostel Facilities UCMS provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls under the control of experienced wardens. Both the hostels are situated within the UCMS Campus itself. The management has provided 24 hours security as well as all communication facilities including telephones, fax and E-mail. Air cooling and heating arrangements have also been provided in the hostels.
Canteen A highly hygienic and well equipped canteen is functioning in the campus where homely food is served to match the tastes of students hailing from different regions and countries.
Physical Education Center A fully equipped Health Club is operational in the Universal Campus. In addition to that a playground has been provided in the campus for sports like Football, Volley ball, Basket ball, Cricket, and also for indoor games including Table Tennis.
Travel Assistant The Kathmandu office of the College will directly supervise the incoming and outgoing trips of the students including Airport transits. The Administrative office in the campus will assist the students and also their visitors for making advance travel arrangements. The College’s own vehicles will take care of the transportation of the students from the Airport to the Campus.
Campus Transportation The College has its own fleet of vehicles that will commute between the medical college, hospitals and hostels.
USMLE The College would be training and preparing its students for the United States Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE).
Scolarship & Financial AID For the brilliant and meritorious Universal students, the College proposes an Integrated Scholarship and Financial Aid Program for their higher studies in different areas of specialization.
Campus Security The College with the help of an experienced and internationally reputed Security Agency in co-ordination with local Police Authorities, effectively supervises the Universal Campus security requirements. Students’ movement will be under the strict control of the college authorities. Guests of students will be allowed to meet them only during visiting hours with prior written permission from the appointed authorities.
Post Graduate Programs UCMS would be commencing all Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Programs in different specializations of Medical Education commencing from April 2009 onwards.
